Info about Glyptotherium
Glyptotherium is an extinct genus of large, heavily armored giant armadillos. This genus dates back to at least the late pliocene (3.8mya). Growing up to 2 meters (6.56 feet) in length and weighing up to 400kg (881lbs), Glyptotherium sp. was one the largest armadillos of all time. They had an herbivorous diet, consuming a large variety of plants, including aquatic ones. This has led scientists to think that despite their large mass they may have been semi-aquatic, wading into water ways to feed on the plants that grew there.
